Wild 2017 winter

wild winter 2017

Between 5 April and 14 July 2017 the region was hit by three massive weather events: Cyclone Debbie, ex-tropical Cyclone Cook, and a July storm that besieged the start of the school holidays.

The July storm was particularly violent with roads around the region quickly closed. QRS had work crews out all day Saturday, and by the Saturday all roads were opened apart from Ruapapa Rd and Special Purpose 38 Road, which remained closed until Monday morning.

This is a time when QRS rises up and says "we’re here”.

Wairoa District Council had this to say about QRS: The Wairoa district has endured what has been one of our wettest winters in a while, and it has put some strain on our local roads.

Our local roading contractors, QRS, are putting in every ounce of their time and effort to restore our road networks. We would like to extend our gratitude to QRS for their tireless efforts and work in getting our roads up and running.
