Pukekaramea repeater station

Pukekaramea repeater station

In 2017 QRS commissioned a state of the art digital radio communications network that allows it, and other users, to communicate throughout New Zealand using digital radio and repeater systems.

The network at Pukekaramea has proved invaluable for QRS staff working to open up vital infrastructure in sometimes difficult weather and conditions.

QRS engineer, heavy diesel mechanic, panel beater and metal fabricator Glenn Bradley helped design the repeater station structure.

He says construction was challenging as there were no roads in, no instructions on how to secure the hardware, and logistical headaches like getting 20 tonne of concrete to the top of the mountain!  “But we got there!” says Glenn.
