Dividing his time between work sites and the office Paul Eaglesome says he has the best job in the world.

“My job is to make sure everyone gets home safely at the end of the day and you can't get better than that,” he says.

“There are tonnes of risk assessments, procedure checks, all the things we need to do to make sure QRS meets its obligations to its staff but the rewards are worth it all the way.”

Making sure people don't get hurt is especially important to Paul as, in his former life as a prison officer and later immigration officer, he says saw enough pain to last him a lifetime.

He also worked as a sea ports manager for immigration in Australia before taking up his current job with QRS in mid-2016.

The father of three and his wife Roberta, also from Wairoa, say the region is a fantastic place to live. “We're both so happy to be home.”
